Bangor Area Transit Study Continues with Two Public Forums on April 30th

BANGOR, MAINE – Representatives from the consulting firm Stantec will host two public forums to provide updates and share information from the ongoing Bangor Area Transit Study on April 30, 2019. The public forums will be held from 2:00-3:00pm and 6:00-7:00pm in Council Chambers, 3rd floor, City Hall, 73 Harlow Street, Bangor, and will offer thoughts on initial recommendations based on transit study surveys and data collecting over the past few months.

In addition, Stantec plans to meet with local organizations, small and large businesses, and members of the community during the week of April 29 to gather additional data as it works towards a final report.

In February 2019, the City of Bangor and its municipal partners in Brewer, Hampden, Old Town, Orono, and Veazie launched a study to determine how to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Community Connector transit system. The study has included public forums, online surveys, and data gathering from riders and non-riders alike.

The Community Connector is the greater Bangor area’s public transit system. In September 2018, it was awarded a $2.89M grant from the Federal Transit Authority to update its bus fleet, maintain bus service levels, and meet increasing service needs.
