Description: The City of Bangor is seeking applicants for a paid full-time, temporary Safety & Environmental Management Intern to work directly with the Risk and Safety Manager during the summer months.  This position will support environmental, health and safety compliance activities throughout the City including, but not limited to:  Noise Dosimetry, Personal Protective Equipment Hazard Assessments & managing the chemical inventory database.  In addition, this position will support the SEM team in the development of safety training programs.


Position requirements: The successful applicant will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Safety Sciences or other closely related field with a GPA of 2.75 or better.  Possess a basic understanding of State and Federal EH&S regulations.  Must have a positive attitude and be willing to research an issue to gain further knowledge on a subject.  Prior EH&S experience and/or working with industrial hygiene equipment is a plus.  Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in both individual and team work settings with minimum supervision.  Typical hours are:  Monday – Friday,  8:00 am – 4:30 pm.  Pay Range:  $11.00 - $12.00 per hour.


This is an excellent learning opportunity for a EH&S student interested in working in a municipality setting or in public administration.
