Summer Camp Staff Openings!

The City of Bangor Parks and Recreation Dept. is hiring for multiple positions for our Summer Camp staff including Supervisors, Asst. Supervisors and Camp Counselors. Our ideal candidate would be someone who is:

Counselors are responsible for planning and supervising games, activities and crafts that are engaging to kids. In addition to leading activities, you are also responsible for providing a safe and fun environment for kids grades K-5.

Pay range $11.00-$13.00/hour.  Flexible hours between 7:00AM – 5:30PM Monday – Friday. We are accepting applications starting in March until mid-June or until all positions are filled.

Lifeguard Openings!

The City of Bangor Parks and Recreation Dept. is hiring lifeguards positions for our two outdoor pools. Our ideal candidate would be someone who is:

This position is responsible for some planning and organization of swim programs, instruction and leadership of aquatic activities, and overall supervision of children and adults at the pools. This position is a seasonal position running from the middle of June through August. 

REQUIREMENTS

·         All lifeguards must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, AED and First Aid certification prior to the start of the season. 

·         Lifeguards are required to be proficient swimmers, be comfortable in the water and assist in lifting a person.

·         Must be able to follow and give directions, be a quick thinker and use good safety awareness and judgement while remaining pleasant and professional.

·         Must also be mentally alert to dangerous situations to ensure the safety of all patrons and swimmers.

·         All pre-season trainings are mandatory. 

Pay range $11.00-$12.00/hour.  Flexible hours between 8:30AM – 8:30PM Monday – Sunday. We are accepting applications starting in March until mid-June or until all positions are filled.

Park Maintenance Worker

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Maintenance, this position provides assistance with activities related to the maintenance of parks and recreation areas as well as other areas that fall under the responsibility of the Parks and Recreation Department.  Those activities include operating various trucks, tractor, and mowers in grounds maintenance work as well as Maintaining and repairing Parks and Recreation facilities.  This shall be accomplished in compliance with established local, state, and federal standards.  As work experience is gained, employee may be assigned to somewhat more difficult tasks.  This is a 35-40 hour per week position with a pay range of between $11.00 to $12.50 per hour.  The duration of this position can range from 3 to 10 months.

Athletic Field Maintenance Worker

Under the direct supervision of the Athletic Field Maintenance Supervisor, this position provides assistance with a variety of maintenance related activities with a variety of athletic playing fields around the City.    Sports fields must be maintained daily to provide safe and playable areas for all users.  Duties include watering, weed removal, dragging, setting bases, lines, as well as repairing dirt and turf surfaces; assisting with custodial duties, restroom cleaning, litter control, and complex inspection activities, identify and refer any needed repairs discovered at any location, ability to operate a variety of power equipment including riding mowers, motorized utility carts, and other pieces of equipment as needed.  This is a 35-40 hour per week position with a pay range of $11.00 to $12.00 per hour.  The duration of this position can range from 3 to 10 months.

Golf Course Maintenance Worker

Under the direct supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, this position provides assistance with activities related to the maintenance of Bangor Municipal Golf Course.  Those activities include operating various trucks, tractor, and mowers in grounds maintenance work as well as maintaining irrigation and conducting special labor projects.  This shall be accomplished in compliance with established local, state, and federal standards.  As work experience is gained, employee may be assigned to somewhat more difficult tasks.  

This is a 20-40 hour per week position with a pay range of between $11.00 to $11.75 per hour.  The duration of this position can range from 3 to 8 months.
