Local Limits
The following are the local limits as applied to the discharge of wastewater to the City of Bangor Wastewater Treatment Plant and Sewer System. For Industries subject to federal categorical pretreatment standards, discharge limits shall be as per the code of federal regulations title 40, however, in all cases the lowest applicable limit shall be the point of enforcement.

Total toxic organics are monitored as per fume toxicity screening level calculations base on ‘henry’s law’.
The City of Bangor through Chapter 252 of the City Codes and Ordinances reserves the right to levy surcharges to users of the sewer system as deemed necessary by the superintendent.
Surcharges may be levied when concentration of the following pollutant(s) exceed 140 mg/l:
- Total Oil & Grease
Surcharges may be levied when concentration of the following pollutant(s) exceed 350 mg/l:
- Biochemical Oxygen Demand
- Total Suspended Solids
