Code Enforcement facilitates compliance with the various applicable health and safety codes and ordinances of the City through a proactive program of code assistance. Services, public education, and enforcement are provided in a fair and timely manner and designed to protect the public and enhance the community’s quality of life.

CODES ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF BANGOR

To facilitate the Division's Mission, the City of Bangor has adopted, by ordinance, the following nationally recognized codes:

2006 International Building Code

2006 International Residential Building Code

2006 International Mechanical Code

2008 National Electric Code

2003 International Property Maintenance Code

Maine State Plumbing Code/2000 Uniform Plumbing Code (Internal Plumbing)

2003 International Energy Conservation Code (State of Maine)

IBC Base Climate Information

• Wind Load form IBC - 90 MPH with 3 second sustained gust.
• Snow Load - 56 lbs. per sq. ft. (base figure, go to IBC for calcs specific
  to building use and roof slope)
• Ground Snow Load- 80 lbs.
• Wind Exposure (B)
• Hurricane Coast? No 80 mile hour zone.
• Frost Depth- 5 feet
• No special seismic considerations
