Rescue BoatsRescue Boats

Since the City of Bangor is located on both the Penobscot River and Kenduskeag Stream it is not unusual to have a need for rescue boats for stranded boaters, the annual Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race and the occasional oil spill. This aluminum-hull Propac boat is powered by a 90-horsepower Mercury outboard. Water rescue equipment and booms for oil spills are on-board. Another boat, an inflatable boat, is also available for use.

SnorkelSnorkel

Originally invented in Chicago in the mid-1950s Bangor uses their 1977 Snorkel primarily as a back-up to the Ladder. The Snorkel is limited in its reach due to its articulating boom and only reaches 85-feet. The Snorkel has a basket with a 900-pound rating and is pre-piped with a 4-inch waterway capable of flowing 1,000 gallons-per-minute when supplied by an engine.
