Cross Insurance Center Updates




Construction is 92% complete

Progress on the Cross Insurance Center continues to be very good with most construction work on the Arena part of the building nearing completion. The Event Center portion of the building will be nearly complete in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Obviously, there is still much outside work to do, including landscaping, existing building demolition, construction of new parking areas, sidewalks, and roadways, etc. which will be undertaken through the spring and summer.

While there are still a number of exterior windows and doors yet to be installed, temporary coverings and closures have rendered the facility (particularly the Arena) to be essentially weathertight. This is a significant step, in that weather now has minimal effect on much of the interior work.

City of Bangor Announces Agreement on Naming Rights for New Arena and Convention Center

The City of Bangor announced today that the new 8,000-seat multi-purpose sports and entertainment venue currently under construction will be named the Cross Insurance Center as a result of a new, long-term naming rights agreement between the City and Cross Insurance. Most of these activities will continue during June and there will be a lot of work undertaken to close in the Convention Center and "back of house" areas of the Arena. Obviously the recent unseasonably mild weather has made some aspects of construction easier than expected and allowed some elements to start slightly sooner than anticipated. Overall, the project remains on schedule with completion of the "critical path" items tracking exactly as projected.

Over the past month much progress has been made.  This has involved a lot of highly visible work.............most notably, much of the Arena roof framing and more of the arena "bowl”.   ...

Construction of the Bangor Events Center continues to progress very well. Key milestones on the "critical path" of the construction schedule have been met on time and some non - critical path work is ahead of the anticipated schedule.

Clearly the unusually mild winter weather has been helpful. As can be readily seen by driving by or viewing progress on the web cam, a considerable part of the arena building framing has been erected....

Construction of foundations and walls has really been stepped up with a recent doubling of crew sizes. Completion of the exterior wall adjacent to the existing auditorium has been a major focus, and is now quite visible, rising up to 30 feet high. This should be completed in a couple more weeks.
