3/13/2018 - The City of Bangor announces several closures and delays due to winter storm

Due to a major winter storm that will significantly impact Bangor, non-emergency city offices will open for business at 12:00 PM noon on Wednesday, March 14. In addition, the public should note the following city closures and delays:

Bangor Public Health & Community Services - Those with WIC or other appointments on Wednesday, March 14 should call 207-992-4530 and reschedule, if necessary.

Bangor Parks & Recreation
- The Kids Cave before-and-after school program, including the Snow Days program, is cancelled for Wednesday, March 14.

Community Connector
- The Community Connector bus will start service at 12:15 PM on Wednesday, March 14. Depending on the amount of snow, bus riders may need to allow for extra time to reach their destination Wednesday afternoon.

Weather conditions are quickly deteriorating this afternoon. The public is urged to avoid all unnecessary travel. During the storm, Public Works crews will focus on clearing primary routes. Some residential streets will not be plowed immediately. This is a long duration storm with significant snow accumulation, so we ask for the public's patience as our dedicated Public Works crews work hard to clear streets and primary sidewalks.
A downtown parking ban is in effect from 11:00 PM tonight, March 13, 2018 through 6:00 AM tomorrow morning. Several City parking lots are available for emergency winter storm parking during a parking ban. The following list of parking lots are available for overnight parking during a parking ban, from 5 PM to 7 AM:

Columbia Street Lot
Parking is available below the upper deck of the Columbia Street parking lot

Pancoe Pool Lot
Parking is available at Pancoe Pool, located at 175 Thirteenth Street

Mount Hope Lot
Parking is available off Mount Hope Avenue, in the lot facing Cameron Stadium

Parking Garage
Parking is available on the ground level of the Pickering Square Parking Garage; enter through the Kenduskeag Plaza West.

The City will continue to monitor the storm and will provide updates to local media and the City's social media platforms.
