Bangor Cultural Assistance COVID-19 Relief Grants

In June 2020, Bangor City Council authorized $15,000 for the Commission on Cultural Development to make available emergency grant funds to arts and culture institutions in light of the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on these vital organizations. Unlike the biannual grants offered for project-based work, the relief grants are intended to provide much-needed operational support to arts and culture organizations that have been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maximum awards of $1,000 will be given to organizations with an annual operating budget under $500,000, and $2,000 for organizations with an annual operating budget over $500,000. Funds can be awarded for up to two months of normal operating expenses during March, April, May, and June 2020, including rent, payroll, utilities, etc.

Organizations are not excluded if they received other funds, such as PPP, but cannot use grant funds for operations covered by other funding. If there is more demand than the program can fund, a randomizer will be used to allocate available funds.

Applications must be received no later than Friday, July 31, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. Please email completed applications to culturalcommission@bangormaine.gov

Applications will be reviewed by August 7, 2020, and applicants will be notified if their application is being recommended for funding by August 14, 2020.
