Firefighter/EMT - City of Bangor Fire Department
The City of Bangor, Maine Fire Department is accepting applications to fill future openings for Firefighter/EMT positions. Requirements include the following: possession and maintenance of a valid driver’s license, high school diploma or equivalent, and possess a Maine or National Registry EMT license (Paramedic preferred) at time of interview. Applicants will undergo an extensive evaluation including written fire & medical exams, practical medical knowledge test, and a Bangor Fire Department physical ability test. Testing dates will be announced at a future time and virtual options may be available for the written portion. Applicants who present a valid (within last 6 months) IAFF/IAFC Candidate Physical Ability Test card will be excused from physical ability test. Successful applicants will be required to pass a background check and psychological evaluation.
Bangor firefighters work an attractive two (2) 24 hour shifts a week and have a highly competitive wage package. Starting salary: $42,063.84-$52,328.64. Retirement options include Maine Public Employees Retirement System plan 3C (2/3rd of average final compensation after 25 years with no age minimum), or an ICMA-RC 401(a). Candidates with current career Fire or EMS service with at least 3 years experience may enter the pay scale at step 3 of the current CBA.
