COMMUNITY CONNECTOR SAFETY & TRAINING OFFICER (PART-TIME)
The City of Bangor is pleased to announce a new employment opportunity for a part-time Safety and Training Officer for the Community Connector. This position will promote safe public transportation in the Bangor and surrounding areas; monitor, track, and report the compliance of the transit system, employees, providers, and others regarding the various aspects of the FTA’s safety, security, and compliance rules and regulations.
The successful candidate will perform duties such as: lead the implementation, maintenance, and updates of the (PTASP) Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan; lead on implementation of (SMS) Safety Management Systems; utilize a working knowledge of rules, regulations and guidelines pertaining to State of Maine CDL license, FTA, DOT, FMCSR, Union Contract, and SWAPP in regards to training, communications, and policies. Monitors Federal, State and local regulations for maintaining FTA compliance for security and safety programs; maintains all compliance records and reports, and maintains oversight of requirements for FTA triennial review; perform annual on-board driver evaluations; provide feedback to Operations Officer and/or Bus Superintendent; maintain CDL database; communicating effectively with drivers and supervisors regarding routes, safety needs, and requirements; coordinate and conduct annual and refresher training for all drivers; maintain training records; maintain Facility Maintenance Plan for Bus Barn and other FTA funded facilities; and ensure that records are up to date and compliant with all government agencies, OSHA, FMCSA, MDOT, FTA and City of Bangor.
The ideal candidate will possess a college degree or have completed coursework in a related field; possess administrative experience and/or experience in a safety-related position; and be proficient in Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook, and other data bases. The candidate must have the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and possession of a Class B driver’s license with P endorsement and no air brakes restriction or the ability to obtain same within six months of employment.

· While this position is scheduled for 25 hours per week, there may be an opportunity to pick up additional hours on a temporary basis while learning transit dispatch functions
