Dispatch Center

The City of Bangor Emergency Dispatch Center is staffed by a skilled group of dedicated individuals who provide emergency and non-emergency assistance to those who live, work and visit Bangor. The Dispatch Center, which is located at the police station, is licensed by the State of Maine as a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Dispatchers are required to complete a minimum four month training program which, in part, includes Emergency Medical Dispatch, Certified Terminal Operator and E-911. Some of the training is held at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. The dispatch center handles over 250,000 in-coming calls per year, of which 40,000 are calls requiring a police officer firefighter or paramedic.
