8/16/2017 - The Bangor Energy Expo Returns to the Cross Insurance Center
The City of Bangor is hosting the Bangor Energy Expo at the Cross Insurance Center on Tuesday, August 22, from 3 PM to 7 PM. The event, which is free to the public, features 24 local vendors and organizations specializing in residential energy efficiency. Participating vendors specialize in improvements such as heat pump installations, insulation, energy audits, natural gas conversions, whole house heating systems and more. In addition, representatives from Efficiency Maine and the City of Bangor will be available to discuss the various rebate programs available to help lower the cost of energy-efficiency upgrades.

“Updating homes to be more energy efficient is essential to cutting energy costs,” says Council Chair Joseph Baldacci, adding “rebate programs offered by the City of Bangor and Efficiency Maine can significantly lower the out of pocket costs for these projects which allow homeowners to live more comfortably, and more affordably, in their homes.”

The City Council allocated an additional $100,000 for the EnergySmart Bangor program as part of the FY 18 budget, ensuring that rebates will continue to be available for Bangor homeowners through 2018 or until the funds are exhausted. To date, 384 rebates have been issued to City of Bangor residents to help pay for energy efficiency improvements. The EnergySmart Bangor program has a current fund balance of $102,000.

More information about the EnergySmart Bangor program, along with rebate forms, can be found online at: www.bangormaine.gov/energysmartbangor or by calling (207) 992-4284.
