2019 Spring Cleanup Begins with Curbside Collection of Leaves, Brush, and Metal Items

Each spring, Public Works crews pick up brush and metal items curbside throughout the city as part of Spring Cleanup. Please note that all items listed below must be placed curbside no later than 6:30am, Monday, April 29, 2019. Items placed curbside later than the cutoff date may not be picked up!

LEAVES
Loose leaves should be raked to the edge of the road where crews can collect them with large vacuum units. Leaf piles should be SEPARATE from your brush and metal piles. Please exercise caution to ensure that rocks, branches, yard waste, and other debris are not included in the loose leaf piles, as they may plug the vacuum hose, damage the vacuum unit, or injure Public Works employees.

BRUSH
Brush should be placed curbside no later than 6:30am, Monday, April 29, 2019. Please place brush parallel to the curb away from low hanging wires, rubbish containers, and recycling containers. Brush can also be brought to the Public Works Yard at 530 Maine Avenue any day during daylight hours.

METAL ITEMS
Metal items should be placed curbside no later than 6:30am, Monday, April 29, 2019. Please, no televisions, computer monitors, or items containing freon.

The preferred method of disposing of brush, yard waste, and leaves is to bring it to the Public Works organic disposal site at the Public Works facility at 530 Maine Avenue. A permit is required and can be obtained at no charge to residents at the Public Works office.

UNIVERSAL WASTE and electronic waste such as televisions, monitors, light bulbs, and other computer components may be taken to Electronics End at 173 Robertson Boulevard in Brewer. Their telephone number is 922-2094.

Bulky items such as furniture and demo debris may be taken directly to the Pine Tree Waste facility in Hampden. This is not a free service and residents will be asked to pay for disposed materials based on weight. For directions to this facility, a list of acceptable material, fee schedules, and hours of operation, please visit the Bulky Waste and Demolition Debris page on our website.
