6/24/2019 - Commission on Cultural Development Seeks Independent Researcher for Cultural Asset Survey

Call for Applications - Cultural Asset Survey

Independent Research Project Pays $1,250

Application Deadline: July 1, 2019

The City of Bangor's Commission on Cultural Development (CCD) seeks a motivated individual familiar with spreadsheet data entry and a knowledge of public art and culture to complete its Cultural Asset Survey of Bangor.

A team of students from John Bapst High School has compiled a draft Excel database of 156 public installations of art, memorials, and culturally significant locations across the City of Bangor. The database needs to be reviewed and expanded, its individual GPS locations verified for future development as an online map, and photos of each site attached.

The successful applicant will finalize the database in coordination with members of the CCD and the City of Bangor's GIS office.

Payment of $1,250 will be made in thirds as per the following schedule:

  • Sept. 3 (or earlier) on submission of a complete revised draft of the Bangor Cultural Asset Survey database
  • Sept. 16 on submission of short narrative report (2-3 pages) and acceptable final database based on CCD feedback on draft
  • Oct. 3 following public presentation where you will staff an informal table about the survey at the ARTober kick-off event at the Bangor Arts Exchange from 5:00-7:00pm

To apply (or for more information):

Send a 1-page cover letter explaining your qualifications with a short resume (2-3 pages) to Betsy Lundy, Downtown Coordinator & Public Liaison at betsy.lundy@bangormaine.gov. Applications will be considered starting July 2, 2019.
