City Announces Eligibility Notice for Maine Housing Water Assistance Program

BANGOR - Eligible Maine households may qualify for assistance with their sewer and stormwater utility bills through a federally funded program administered by the Maine State Housing Authority.

This program will provide eligible households with direct funding to the City of Bangor to reconcile past due balances and/or prepay customers’ accounts. Households are eligible for one prospective benefit and a one-time arrearage payment to prevent disconnection or restore service. The program funding is limited and allocated on a first come first served basis.

For more information or to request an application, you may contact the Department of Water Quality at (207) 992-4470. Utility users may also contact Maine Housing Directly by calling (888) 623-6762, emailing water@mainehousing.org or visiting their website at www.mainehousing.org/mainewaterprogram.
