Councilor Clare Davitt
Clare Davitt returned home to Bangor in 2014 after 14 years away. During that time she completed three academic degrees, worked as a librarian, crisis counselor, and career advisor, and traveled in South America, Europe, and Africa. From 2013 to 2014 Clare lived and volunteered in a rural community outside of Leon, Nicaragua where she was a leader in the building of a new library. Clare is a Constituent Services Representative for Congressman Jared Golden. She was a reference librarian at the Bangor Public Library from 2014-2020. Clare is a past board member of NAMI Maine and NAMI Bangor, Bangor Greendrinks, Bangor Celtic Crossroads, and the City of Bangor's Board of Appeals. Clare was elected to the Bangor City Council in November of 2017 and served as City Council Chair from November of 2019 to November of 2020.
Clare is a graduate of Bangor High School (1997); Americorps NCCC (2001); Evergreen State College (B.A 2004); St. John’s College of Santa Fe (M.A. 2007); Simmons College (M.S. 2013); Bangor Region Leadership Institute (2016); and Emerge Maine (2017).
