11/3/2014 - Emergency Shelter Information
Bangor city officials, along with Police, Fire, Penobscot County AMA, Red Cross, Public Works and Parks and Recreation met this afternoon in regards to those Bangor residents who are still without power and/or heat.

Emera Maine has made significant progress in Bangor today and their efforts are continuing. Emera Maine is asking customers to assist in the restoration by ensuring driveways and rights of ways are plowed and sanded to allow them to access the areas and work safely as they restore service. And, as always, NEVER go near a downed line or a tree in contact with a line

The Bangor Parks and Recreation’s temporary day shelter will close at 6PM this evening and open tomorrow at 7AM.

If you find yourself in need and have no other option or shelter after 7PM this evening please stop into the Bangor Police Department for coffee, warmth and use the phone. If you cannot get to the station call 947-7382 and ask to speak with the Commanding Officer.

If you do not live in Bangor 211 is the number to call for information regarding warming shelters near you.

Please check on your elderly friends and relatives and those who live alone and make sure they’re all okay.

Bangor Fire Department would like to remind all without power to use candles minimally and safely. Flashlights and other alternative lighting work best! If you’re using a generator please keep it outdoors, and only use approved alternative heating sources.
