City Invites Artists, Arts & Culture Organizations to Submit Applications for Fall '22 Grant Cycle

Bangor, Maine – The City of Bangor Commission on Cultural Development invites applications from individuals and non-profits for its Fall 2022 grant cycle. The deadline for applications for the fall cycle is October 1, 2022. Please note that this is a deadline change, as fall applications were previously due on November 1. The Commission will review eligible applications at its November 7, 2022 meeting and make recommendations to the City Council who makes the final determination.

Applicants must demonstrate how City of Bangor funds will be used to benefit Bangor’s citizens and visitors and contribute to the economic and cultural vitality of the city. Funds requested must be matched 1:1 with other means of funding. Funds requested must be used on projects located within the City of Bangor, and directly serve the Bangor community.

Individual artists may submit applications for grants not to exceed $1,000. Grants to individual artists can only be used for reimbursement of the cost of supplies and materials purchased after grant approval. Completed projects must, at least initially, be available to the general public.

Non-profit organizations holding a current IRS determined non-profit status are eligible to apply for grants, typically up to $5,000, however there is no funding cap.

Since its inception in 2004 with the mission to “promote the development of Bangor as a regional arts center that nurtures the artistic and cultural expression of its diverse peoples.”, the CCD has recommended and the City awarded over half a million dollars in grants to cultural institutions and individual artists in Bangor.
