BANGOR, Maine - Bangor Police officers responded to a reported two-vehicle crash on Hammond Street on Dec. 1, around 1:43 a.m. Witnesses reported they saw one vehicle driving away. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and the driver that left the scene and identified her as Michele Payeur, 36, of Bangor.
Video footage from a nearby home showed Payeur driving during the crash and a male passenger fleeing the scene. Additional calls about a suspicious man were received near the area of the crash and police located Nicholas Bennett, 37, of Bangor. Bennett confirmed being in the vehicle and said the crash happened as a result of an argument. It was determined that Bennett had bail conditions not to be in contact with Payeur.

Payeur was charged with the following:
- Operating Under the Influence
- Leaving the Scene of a Crash

Bennet was charged with the following:
- Violation of Conditions of Release
