Community (Climate) Action Grant

On March 3rd, the City of Bangor will be hosting two public workshops to discuss how a new grant opportunity should be used on climate actions in the City. The newly formed Community Resilience Partnership, under Maine’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future, has created a Community Action Grant program. This program will allocate up to $50,000 to municipal and tribal governments across the state to implement a variety of actions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, as well as create more resiliency to future impacts from climate change. The actions proposed are in alignment with the State’s climate action plan, “Maine Won’t Wait”.

Through public workshops, the City is soliciting feedback on which actions to prioritize in Bangor. The first workshop will be held virtually, on Zoom, from 12 pm to 1 pm on March 3rd. The second workshop will also be held on March 3rd, from 6 pm to 7 pm, in person, at City Hall in the Council Chambers. During these workshops, participants will also be introduced to the up and coming Climate Action Plan that the City is embarking on with the Bangor Area Comprehensive Transportation System (BACTS), the Town of Orono, Husson University, and the University of Maine.
