The Community Connector has established a DBE program in accordance with the regulations of U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), 49 CFR Part 26. This program is required as a condition of receiving Federal financial assistance from DOT.
Per DOT, the purpose of the program is to help remedy ongoing discrimination and the continuing effects of past discrimination within federal financially assisted contracting markets nationwide under DOT's purview. The primary remedial goal and objective of the DBE program is to level the playing field by providing small businesses of socially and economically disadvantaged individuals a fair opportunity to compete for federally funded transportation contracts.
In Maine, MaineDOT administers the program and certifies all DBEs in Maine in compliance with federal regulations.
